🐰🎉 Interactive Therapeutic Bunny Experiences
At Bunny Gurus, the safety, privacy, and well-being of children and animals are our highest priorities. We operate under strict adherence to local, state, and federal laws — including child protection, privacy, and animal welfare regulations — to ensure every interaction is safe, respectful, and free from unnecessary risk.
Our protocols are grounded in proven safety training, expert animal handling practices, and a commitment to protecting minors’ identities and personal information. Every event is thoughtfully planned to maintain a calm, supervised environment where children and animals can interact positively, while safeguarding against physical harm, emotional distress, and violations of privacy rights.
Our Key Commitments:
Child Privacy Protection: Compliance with California Civil Code § 3344, Penal Code § 647(j), Education Code § 51512, and COPPA to prevent unauthorized use of minors’ images or personal data.
Safe Animal Handling: Only trained staff handle bunnies during events; no unsupervised contact with minors.
Protective Measures: All children interacting with animals must wear appropriate coverings to prevent scratches or injury.
Event Transparency: Clear guidelines, waivers, and instructions provided to hosts and guests in advance.
Zero Tolerance for Risk: Activities or requests that compromise safety, privacy, or animal welfare are respectfully declined.
We are bound by multiple laws that protect minors and animals, including:
California Civil Code § 3344 – Prohibits unauthorized use of a minor’s image, voice, or likeness for commercial purposes without written parental consent.
California Penal Code § 647(j) – Prohibits unauthorized filming or photography in situations where minors have a reasonable expectation of privacy.
California Education Code § 51512 – Restricts unauthorized recording of minors in educational or child-focused environments.
COPPA (Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act) – Requires explicit, verifiable parental consent before collecting, using, or publishing a child’s personal information or image online.
Animal Welfare Act (7 U.S.C. § 2131 et seq.) – Requires humane handling of animals to avoid stress, injury, or suffering.
California Civil Code § 3342.5 – Mandates responsible control of animals during public interactions.
To meet these legal requirements and our own ethical standards:
Mandatory Supervision – Minors must be supervised by a Bunny Gurus-trained handler at all times when interacting with animals.
Protective Clothing – Children must wear thick protective coverings to prevent scratches from rabbits’ strong hind legs.
Controlled Interactions – No unsupervised handling, carrying, or walking with bunnies is permitted.
Photography and Video Policy – Any recording or photography of minors at our events requires:
Prior written parental consent for every child recorded.
Compliance with our Social Media Policy and event-specific guidelines.
No Unauthorized Online Posting – Photos or videos of minors taken at our events may not be shared online without prior approval, in compliance with state and federal laws.
To Protect Children – We cannot allow practices that may expose minors to harm, exploitation, or unauthorized online exposure.
To Protect Animals – Rabbits are sensitive animals with strong legs and delicate spines; improper handling can cause serious injury to both the animal and the child.
To Uphold the Law – As trained and certified youth-serving professionals (including 4-H and University of California Agriculture & Natural Resources certifications), we are mandated reporters and legally obligated to prevent unsafe or unlawful situations.
We understand that families may have different expectations for events, but we will never compromise on safety or privacy to meet individual requests. If a family cannot agree to our legally required protocols, we will respectfully decline or cancel the booking to protect all parties involved.
Our mission is to provide joyful, educational, and safe interactions that leave lasting positive memories—while fully honoring the trust families place in us.
